Talk to your Local Pub or Café
July 2 is National Weekend Warrior Day where people all over the country will visit their local pubs, bars and cafes to ask them to commit to protecting weekend rates. Register below to be part of the action to Save Our Weekend!
While the Fair Work Commission has announced cuts to penalty rates for hospitality workers, a number of hospitality businesses have already committed to protecting penalty rates for their staff. Can you ask your local pub, bar or café to do the same by pledging to protect penalty rates?
Hospitality venues rely on their local communities to survive and conversations with community members are a powerful way to persuade them to do the right thing.
We have all the materials you need to get your local to commit to protect penalty rates and to let the staff know you stand with them. Order a pack below that includes a letter to the owner or manager, a pledge form, some thank you cards for staff, and some Save our Weekend beer coasters. We'll mail everything out to you along with some tips to help with your conversation.
If you want to get started straight away, you can download the letter and the pledge and take them straight into your local.
Don't forgot to let us know how you go by emailing us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
